well, no one exclaims "we should all stay kids" here, because actually this is not the point, like, at all.
first of all, you're contradicting yourself when you insist it's impossible to kill off emotional parts of yourself, and on the other hand claim it to be a necessity of growing up.
this quote is about socialization of men in patriarchy where the male gender role *is* expected to be less emotional. and if you would have given your claim a second thought you could have easily noticed that girls are socialized differently and still don't stay kids.
